Home improvement is not that simple.

Everyone has a home improvement dream, but whether it is pastoral style or Mediterranean style, everyone wants to live in, not only a new look, but also "green". In fact, the concept of environmentally friendly decoration has long been proposed. There are also a lot of environmentally friendly materials available for you to choose from, but will you really decorate it? To make your home environmentally friendly, what elements should you really pay attention to?

Everyone has a home improvement dream, but whether it is pastoral style or Mediterranean style, everyone wants to live in, not only a new look, but also "green". In fact, the concept of environmentally friendly decoration has long been proposed. There are also a lot of environmentally friendly materials available for you to choose from, but will you really decorate it? To make your home environmentally friendly, what elements should you really pay attention to? This answer is not ideal from the recent test results of the Hangzhou Quality and Technical Supervision and Inspection Institute. The test results are not optimistic. Seven of the 9 homeowners who passed the test exceeded the standard of formaldehyde. The formaldehyde concentration of the one with the highest standard was even more than three times that of the national standard. The nine households were all renovated by the decoration company.

??A

?? Formaldehyde into the decoration "invisible killer"

The indoor environmental quality acceptance shall be carried out at least 7 days after the completion of the project and before the project is delivered. When testing, the civil construction project using natural ventilation shall be carried out one hour after the closing of the external doors and windows .

Most of the 9 homeowners tested were just renovated in the first half of this year. Some furniture has already entered the market, while others have not yet been soft-packed.

This quality inspection mainly detects three indicators of benzene, formaldehyde and TVOC (total volatile organic compounds). These pollutants are also more likely to exceed the standard in new houses.

?? First say the first indicator benzene.

?? Benzene is mainly found in chemical products such as paints, coatings, latex paints, and various decorative materials containing benzene. After the benzene series is inhaled by the human body, central nervous system anesthesia can occur, which can inhibit the hematopoietic function of the human body.

The test results showed that none of the 9 households found benzene exceeding the standard. The highest was a Mr. Liu's home. The benzene concentration was 0.013 mg/m3, but it was far below the national standard of 0.09 mg/m3.

The second indicator, TVOC, may be unfamiliar to the interior decoration process. In fact, it exists in many decoration materials, such as paints, coatings and adhesives.

It is reported that the indoor TVOC concentration is usually between 0.2 mg/m3 and 2 mg/m3. TVOC may cause imbalance of immune level, affect central nervous system function, and may have symptoms such as dizziness, headache, lethargy, weakness, chest tightness and so on.

?? There are 3 households in this test higher than the national standard of 0.5 mg / cubic meter, of which Mr. Liu's family is the highest, more than 4 times the standard, the other two families are 0.68 mg / cubic meter and 0.58 mg / cubic meter.

Benzene has passed, and only one-third of TVOC's households have exceeded the standard, but the situation of formaldehyde is somewhat serious.

For ordinary houses, the concentration of formaldehyde should be 0.08 mg/m3. Needless to say, the harm of formaldehyde, it will lead to abnormal olfactory, abnormal immune function such as lung and liver. Among the 9 households, 7 of them have exceeded the national standards. The highest is Desheng New Village, Mr. Fu, the formaldehyde concentration is 0.268 mg/m3, which is more than 3 times higher than the standard.

? Dark curtains or hidden "pollution traps"

Quality inspection experts suggest that consumers should first select environmentally-friendly decoration materials, and pay attention to the selection of environmentally-friendly materials that meet the requirements of national standards, and strive to fundamentally reduce indoor pollution. Artificial boards such as plywood, blockboard, medium density fiberboard and particleboard, wood flooring and wall coverings, wallpaper, chemical fiber carpets , foams, paints and coatings will release a variety of volatile toxic substances that are harmful to human health.

?? "The door and window closing time of this inspection activity is controlled by the owner, and most of the owners have moved the furniture into the inspection room. Various conditions may affect the test results, so the limit value specified by the national standard can only be used as a reference." For the results of this test, the person in charge of the Hangzhou Quality Inspection Institute said that the concentration of pollutants in most of the rooms exceeded the standard limit, and the situation was not optimistic.

There is also a misunderstanding, which is what experts have asked us to tell readers: environmentally friendly materials are not 100% non-polluting materials, but contain relatively low levels of ingredients. If the matching of building decoration materials is unreasonable, or the decoration materials are used in a large amount, the harmful substances in the room will often exceed the carrying capacity of the house space.

In the past, people thought that the more luxurious the home decoration, the better. In fact, the more luxurious the decoration, the more decoration materials used. In the case that the unit area of the room is unchanged, too much material means the total of various harmful elements. The amount increases.

In addition, the city quality inspection experts also specifically mentioned soft clothing pollution that is easily overlooked by everyone.

?? "In many people's concept, curtains, tablecloths, sofa sets, curtains, carpets these fabrics, a lot of people to buy back directly after use." Is not it? In the face of the reporter's question, the experts explained that in fact, in the production process, decorative fabrics often include additives such as synthetic resins, as well as dyes and finishing agents, most of which contain formaldehyde. “Especially dark fabrics and specially treated fabrics such as anti-wrinkle and soft, have a higher formaldehyde content.”

Therefore, after the decorative cloth is bought back, don't use it. It is best to soak it in clean water first to reduce the residual formaldehyde content. When buying, don't buy pungent odor, the lighter the color, the safer, and pay attention to the dye should have no odor, strong stability and not easy to fade.

Quality inspection experts say that the most effective way to solve indoor air pollution is ventilation. More windows and ventilation should be used to allow indoor polluted air to be emitted. Strengthening the ventilation frequency is conducive to the emission and discharge of harmful substances. It is not advisable to stay in the house immediately after renovation. If conditions permit, it is better to stay in the summer after the release period of harmful gas. High temperature, high humidity and negative pressure will accelerate the emission of harmful substances.

?? Green plants are "scavengers" that remove pollution from decoration. Indoor planting plants such as spider plant, aloe vera, and tiger peony can also reduce the concentration of harmful substances in the room. In addition, some activated carbon can be placed to adsorb harmful gases indoors.

?? Newly renovated houses and newly purchased furniture, or when the indoor air quality is not good, it is best to have a qualified inspection unit to test. According to the test results, determine the degree of pollution and the main harmful components, and select appropriate methods to reduce and eliminate pollution.
