Preparation of adhesives from waste in polyurethane production

Researchers in Russia have used waste materials for polyurethane waste, which not only saves production costs but also solves environmental problems.

The castable polyurethane elastomer waste material and waste products based on polyester and TDI were crushed in advance and then decomposed. The deagglomerating agent is a mixture of a polyester polyol and a tertiary amine catalyst. Studies have shown that the mass ratio of polyurethane, polyester polyols and amines is best at 100:66:6. The time and temperature of the decomposition depend on the type and density of the polyurethane. For example, for polyurethanes with a density of 0.03 mol/m3, the decomposition conditions are 120°C for 8 to 10 h; for polyurethanes with a density of 0.06 mol/m3 and 0.18 mol/m3, they are 120°C, 10 to 12 h and 140°C, respectively. 16~18h. The decomposition product was a brown homogeneous viscous body composed of a polyol and a urethane polyol (molecular weight 2000).

The two-component polyurethane adhesive is a mixture of the above decomposed product and a polyisocyanate, wherein the A component is a 60% solution of a polyurethane decomposer, and the B component is a polyisocyanate.
