Static Health Therapy

This kind of static power therapy led by Mr. Chen Xiaoning is derived from the works of Zhuangzi. It is a kind of internal function of a typical Taoist system. It is simple and easy, suitable for men, women and children, and will not be biased. Before his liberation, Mr. Chen Xiaoning devoted himself to studying the Taoist doctrine. He once wrote a book entitled “Sun Fei Ernv’s Female Poetry,” specializing in qigong. After liberation, he served as president of the Chinese Taoism Association and lived in Beijing Baiyun Temple. In August 1957, he had written about the "Quiz Gongfu Yangshuo" in the Pingchangshan Workers' Sanatorium in Hangzhou, according to more than 60 years of experience. In October 1963, he rewritten this mimeographed material into a Quiz for Quiet Treatment, which was printed in a booklet, but it has not yet been published. It is only copied by the masses and is considered as a treasure. The following description is based on the above-mentioned two volumes of information left by Mr. Chen Yining during his lifetime. In the process of sorting, we slightly modified the text and content, but basically kept the contents of the original book.

One, static work overview

Many people suffer from neurasthenia and there is currently no medicine to cure. Although many drugs claim tonics can supplement the brain, they are also considered inaccurate. Serving sedatives or stimulants, etc., can only receive temporary effects. The drug has passed, the disease is still relapsed, or more serious.

Keeping the brain quiet and eliminating all thoughts is the most effective way to treat neurasthenia, and it is also the most important principle for practicing static exercises. However, due to the long history of people's thinking and habits, it is difficult to do anything to stop thinking activities. In order to achieve the goal of “quietness,” the ancients had set forth many methods, such as number, interest, outlook, curse, confederation, chanting, reference to the public case, seeing the first word, learning meditation, seditiousness, or eye nose, etc. And so on, although there are some religious implications, their main role is still to surrender themselves. Some of these methods use one idea instead of mortal thinking, and some focus on physical exercise. Most of them don't approve of absolute disinterest. In comparison, I think Zhuangzi's "listening method" is the best.

The so-called hearing method is to listen to your breath. This method of listening to breath is a wonderful method in Zhuangzi's book. When you first started, you only used the ear roots, you didn't need to be aware of it, you didn't use this idea to replace that idea, and you didn't concentrate on keeping your nose or lungs (in the middle of a hole between the two milks), nor did you hear anything from your nose. It's just right that you feel the whereabouts of your breath and not let it go. As for the speed, thickness, depth, and so on of breathing, let it be a natural change and do not control it with consciousness. After hearing this, they listened and listened. Then they were united in spirit, thoughts, and forgetfulness. Gradually entering the country of sleep, this is the most effective time for nerves to rest and neurasthenia to return to health. At this time, we must take this opportunity to sleep a bit, and we must not reluctantly mention the spirit and drowsiness. This is not conducive to disease and health.

After waking up, you can do it again from the beginning and you can sleep peacefully. If you sleep a few times during the day, do not want to sleep again. You may wish to get up outside and have a little activity. Or stand in a place full of trees and fresh air for a few minutes to breathe (take a deep breath), or you may do soft gymnastics or Tai Chi, but do not let the body overwork. Then, when you go back to your room or sit or lie down, you can still listen to the information and you can still fall asleep. Even if you can't sleep for a while, it's good for the body and nerves if you insist on hearing it. In general speaking, the hearing method can cure insomnia without any malpractice, and it coincides with the theory of “Yang enters yin” mentioned by Huang Di’s “Inner Canon” (according to Huang Di’s “Inner Scripture”). : "Guardians often stay in the yang, then the yang is full of vitality, and it is not allowed to enter the yin.

In previous books, there is often the term “sickness and interest”, but many do not explain how to be lawful. Su Dongpo claims to use the method of counting data first and then use the law of interest (see Dongpo Zhilin, Volume I). Zhu Zi advocated using the "Shang Yan Dian Bai" method of the Shurangama Sutra (see Volume 85 of the Complete Collection of Zhu Zi). However, the number method must be used to count, not purely without ideas. Watching the nose to open their eyes to the concept, a long time, two eyes will inevitably fatigue. Only when Zhuang Zi hears the law, he does not need to read it. He will not fatigue for a long time, and he will truly be in harmony with this rule.

Zhuangzi listened to the breathing method and was originally the foundation of life-study and double-education. For those ancient and modern Chuang-tzu, hardly any of them fully understood this layer of work and taught it in later studies. Most of them were because they did not understand, and a few were out of secrecy. Buried for more than two thousand years, almost extinct. This is one of the outstanding inheritances of the Taoist doctrine. It should be carried forward and inherited. If it is used only for medical treatment, it seems that it has not been used. Older people may, if they have conditions in their spare time, study further and explore this advanced cultivation academic. Because of lack of knowledge and unprepared conditions, young people must not take the liberty of rashness and savagery to avoid self-defeating and harming themselves. Young people have cured their illnesses, properly exercised their skills, and maintained their energy.
