Water-based Printing Ink (I)

I. Introduction
Water-based inks are particularly suitable for cigarettes, wines, foods, beverages, medicines, children's toys and other sanitary packaging products. Since the water-based ink does not contain volatile organic solvents, it can not only reduce the residual toxicity of the print surface, make the printing equipment easy to clean, but also reduce the risk of fire and hidden danger caused by static electricity and flammable solvents, so water-based ink is called new The "green" printed material.
At present, whether it is imported water-based inks or domestic water-based inks, there are disadvantages such as non-alkaline resistance, non-ethanol resistance, non-water resistance, slow drying, poor gloss, and easy to cause paper shrinkage. To overcome these disadvantages, some use UV inks. , This not only increases the printing process, but also increases the printing cost, and some use high-priced imported high-grade water-based ink, also increased the printing cost. All these have restricted the development of China's packaging and printing industry.
In order to solve these problems, our institute has used its own advantages to organize scientific research personnel to tackle the problem. After more than two years of hard work, we have finally developed a series of high-precision water-based ink products. This series of products is environmentally friendly, has non-toxic, non-irritating odor, non-corrosive, non-flammable, non-explosive, good use of safety features, the product can be directly diluted with tap water or ethanol in the use of the environment and the human body There is no hazard, and the printed products are not only free of harmful residual substances, but also insoluble in water, ethanol and alkaline substances, which can completely replace the high-grade imported water-based inks.
Second, the development of environmentally friendly water-based ink
Water-based ink is referred to as ink. It is mainly composed of water-soluble resin, organic pigment, solvent and related additives through compound grinding.
1. Water-soluble resin
Water-soluble resins or water-dispersible resins are water-based ink binders, which have a great influence on the viscosity, adhesion, gloss, drying, and printability of inks. Rosin-modified maleic acid resins are commonly used in the country. As the connection material to make ink, but this kind of ink can only be used for printing general carton, which can not meet the requirements of gloss and water resistance required by medium and high-grade packaging printing. The urethane resin has good stability, but printability and solubility are slightly inferior. Others include styrene-modified maleic resin, water-based amino resin, and polyvinyl acid and carboxymethyl cellulose. These are high. Molecular resins generally contain hydrophilic groups such as -COOH (carboxyl), -OH (hydroxyl), and -NH2 (amino). After a specific process, they become completely soluble in water and can be used as a water-based ink. However, there are obviously some unsatisfactory areas that have different effects on the water-based ink's printability, gloss, and water resistance. See Table 1.

From Table 1, we can see that water-soluble acrylic modified resin is used as a binder for water-based inks. The gloss, weatherability, heat resistance, water resistance, chemical resistance, and stain resistance of the waterborne acrylic resin are significant. The advantages make it show excellent performance no matter in the direct dispersion or synthesis of polymer emulsions.
