How is cardboard made?

1. Log processing

After the raw wood for pulping and the wood chips purchased are transported into the wood storage yard of a paper mill, the bark is stripped and cut into small pieces suitable for pulping. Too large or small wood chips should be removed, and useful wood chips are shipped to the system. The cooking pot is ready for cooking.

2. Slurry preparation

The wood chips in the cooking pot should have a cooking temperature of 320°C and a steam pressure of 165 pounds per square inch for 6-10 hours. The steamed pulp is then purified and sieved and fed to the paper machine headbox.

3. papermaking

The slurry enters the copper mesh of the wire section of the Fourdrinier paper machine from the headbox, and the sheet is continuously formed from fibrous gaskets on the running copper mesh. Most slurries deposit fibers on the forming wire through a primary headbox to form a base paper, which is formed by a secondary headbox. In the forming section, about 20% of the water is removed due to gravity and vacuum absorption. The soft, wet sheet (80% moisture content) will be sent to the press section and the moisture content will be reduced to 60% through a dryer and a smooth roll. The next step is the drying section, which passes through a number of dryers, and then enters the calender section to be lighted and flattened. The finished paperboard is wound into a large paper roll, which is then cut according to the customer's specified paper width and turned into a roll by a rewinding machine. The drum and final finished web are ready for shipment to domestic carton plant customers or overseas export markets.
