However, a buyer in southern California said that the net price for regenerating high-strength linerboard was US$350-355/short ton, and the net price for 26-lb reclaimed corrugated medium paper was US$300/short ton, indicating that there were some lower prices in the market. The price, as well as the report, said that in some special deals, the price of 42 pound kraft paperboard is even lower.
The box manufacturers all said that the business in December was good, and the situation in January was further improved. Many people expressed their belief that the shipments in the previous two months will exceed December 2002 and January 2003.
If this is the case, it will be based on a daily average and the annual demand will increase for five consecutive months.
