The discovery of a new linerboard machine at the Kowloon factory in China

According to reliable news this week, a new board with an annual output of 400,000 tons at the Kowloon plant in Dongguan, China, will be shut down for 60-90 days because of some problems in its operation. However, the plant has not specifically decided when to start the shutdown. This Valmet machine was put into use in early June. Originally intended for the production of brown kraft and white cardboard, but due to the lack of headbox, it was replaced by corrugating medium. When the machine was shipped to the factory, one of the three headboxes had to be returned to the supplier for repair because it had been damaged.
The speed of the machine can only reach half of the design speed of 1000 m/min. This is because the machine vibrates during certain operations. Once these problems are resolved, the factory will still use the machine to produce linerboard.
According to U.S. information, the occurrence of this new machine problem has reduced the demand for old corrugated boxes and pulp at the Kowloon plant. The machine is the second liner board machine at the Kowloon plant.
In mid-1998, the Kowloon plant started using the first 200,000-ton-perforated linerboard machine and plans to add a 400,000-tonne core paper production machine by 2001.
