US manufacturing technology orders fell 16.6% in the first three quarters of this year

According to the latest US Manufacturing Technology Order (USMTO) report released by the American Machinery Manufacturers Association AMT, on November 9, 2015, US manufacturing technology orders increased by 10.9% from August, but compared with the first three quarters of 2015. It fell by 16.6% in the same period last year.

“Given the increase in our order volume over the past two years, the decline in orders has not sounded so bad,” said AMT Chairman Douglas K. Woods. “2014 is a very good year and orders are growing more slowly. Even a slight decline is expected."

Energy costs, a strong US dollar, and a weak global economy have all had a certain impact on capital investment, but manufacturing has three major factors.

According to the American Institute of Supply Management, manufacturing links continued to grow in the 77th month; the trade deficit narrowed to a minimum in seven months.

The two-year budget agreement signed by the president reduced the possibility that the US federal government would recapture the nightmare of October 1-16, 2013, and inject certain certainty into the business environment.

It is estimated that the market weakness may still continue into the first quarter of 2016, but it should be improved soon. At the moment, the indicators of economic development are good, and the main customer base of several of our members is very stable. Cars, medical equipment and aviation are doing very well, which should help promote capital investment. And Woods said it is optimistic about the manufacturing development in 2016.

In September, US manufacturing technology orders totaled $321.7 million, up from $290 million in August, but down 49.6% from $638.8 million in the same period in 2014. At the beginning of 2015, the total amount was $3,105.5 million, a decrease of 16.6% compared to the same period in 2014.
