With poor quality raw materials, the quality of hot-melt adhesives must also be poor, which is one of the important reasons why books and periodicals do pages and pages. We tested the physical properties of hot melt adhesives produced by six domestic manufacturers. The results show that the bookbinding hot melt adhesives generally meet the following performance criteria: tensile strength, elongation at break, high hardness, and fast curing speed. The melt viscosity is low and the thermal stability is better.

3, curing speed. The curing speed of hot glue directly affects the forming quality of the glue book into the cutting quality. Especially for the high-speed linkage line and a grain station, if the curing speed is too slow, the book is deformed during the transfer process. If the hot melt adhesive with low tensile strength is used, the adhesive layer is thick, which can cause the back of the book to be out of squareness, and it is easy to stick the knife when cutting. The back of the book is also easily deformed. The curing speed of the hot melt adhesive is directly related to the system of the hot melt adhesive, the softening point, etc. The hot melt adhesive with a high softening point should be used, and the good softening point of the plastic is more than 85%.
4, higher hardness. The hardness of the hot melt adhesive is directly related to the flexing of the staple book. The hot melt adhesive has a high hardness, and the staples between the pages are not easily separated by the back of the book. According to our test, the hot melt adhesive (23 degrees Celsius) should not be lower than HS82.
5, lower melt viscosity (viscosity index). Hot melt adhesives only have a low melt viscosity to ensure good permeability, which is very important for glue books. However, excessively low melt viscosity can result in insufficient back sizing. The melt viscosity of the hot melt adhesive is preferably in the range of 4000-5000 centipoise.
6, good thermal stability. As the hot melt adhesive is recycled in the plastic pot or glue tank or is heated for a long time, if the hot melt adhesive has poor thermal stability (poor anti-aging property), the color of the glue will be darkened, and the appearance of the book will be affected. , heavy surface crusts, resulting in infusible material. As a result of aging test, the poor thermal stability of the glue will increase the permeability of the book, affecting the bond strength.
In the selection of hot melt adhesives, first of all to optimize the quality of the plastic properties, the price can not only consider the level of the price, to calculate the actual use price after use. Practice has proved that with good quality rubber, the thickness of the book back adhesive layer is 0.5-0.6 mm, and the thickness of the poor quality adhesive layer exceeds 1 mm, but the tensile strength is lower than that of the high-quality glue. The quality of good plastic is about 2 tons per ton. The price of poor quality rubber is 15,000 yuan/ton, but due to the large amount of usage, it is also equivalent to 29,000 yuan/ton in the final calculation. It is not counted in the consumption of aging and wastage. Loss of pages, page loss, financial loss.
Therefore, the low cost and poor quality hot melt adhesives are actually more expensive to use than good quality hot melt adhesives.
